Ai giardini pubblici is one of Puricelli's works that most greatly testifies to the painter's interest in painting "en plein air". This is not the expression of simple verist naturalism but rather a personal form of impressionism that derives from close observation of nature and a profound sensibility for the interplay of light and the reflections it causes in the atmosphere. The painting is also remarkable in the way the artist was able to reconcile reality with emotion in the best tradition of Lombardy painting.
