In this painting, the same techniques
usually utilized by Giovanni Boldini to depict scenes from society life or to represent feminine "charme"
and elegance are applied to achieve equally brilliant results in rendering
a religious-mystical subject. The thicket of the brushwork in the lower part of the
painting, the upward thrust of the female body, the clear, light
atmosphere of the background are the three elements that combine to form
an inseparable complex, conveying great formal compactness to the scene.
